Mission
The Coppell Community Garden provides community gardens, a farmers market, and environmental education. Dedicated volunteers cultivate a healthy community by growing and donating organic produce to those in need, providing a market for locally grown food, and teaching sustainable practices. Learn more at www.coppellcommunitygarden.org.
Programs
The volunteer gardeners use their gardening skills to grow fresh produce to donate to the local food pantry every Saturday. In May 2009, the Coppell Community Garden has donated over 100,000 pounds.
Individuals and organizations can adopt a raised garden bed to grow vegetables and fruits. The gardeners provide the labor and attention required to have a successful garden. There is a total of 100 plots between the two community gardens.
Both community gardens are a site for the composting education. Master Composters and community volunteers work the compost bins weekly to reduce organic matter and recycle it into a valuable soil amendment. Compost happens at the Coppell Community Garden!
Supporting local agriculture by providing a farmers market as a venue for farmers to sell fresh produce and the community to buy local foods.
Community Service and Youth at the Garden -
Many youth and organizations come to the gardens to do Service Learning Projects and Community Service. Some projects have been raised garden beds, pavestone paths, border plantings, arbors, and Texas Smartscape border gardens. For more information, email
